Why? The Queen Alexandra‘s Birdwing butterfly is known as the largest butterfly in the world with a wingspan of up to 28cm wide! The species was discovered in 1906 by naturalist Albert Meek, and was named after Queen Alexandra of England (1844 – 1925).
