Make poppies and sell them to raise money for the Royal British Legion

Here’s an idea

Why not get together with other members of your community and join forces to raise funds for The Royal British Legion?

For Leaders

The RBL website is a great source of information including the contact details for your local community fund-raiser. You’ll need to contact them to let them know what you’re doing.

Did You Know

The poppy has been used as a symbol of Remembrance since 1921 and was inspired by the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’.

Why

Poppies are worn as a show of support for the Armed Forces community, those currently serving, veterans and their families. They are sold by The Royal British Legion to raise funds to support their work providing lifelong support to serving and ex-serving personnel and their families.

Adapt It

Use your imagination and materials of your choice to create your poppies. You could even learn to knit or crochet and develop a new skill if you don't already know how!

Cut your poppy shape from craft foam or use painted, recycled egg boxes to create your poppies.

Use a button for the centre of your poppy and develop your sewing skills too!

You could collage red paper and magazine cuttings on to a larger sheet before getting an adult to cut out a poppy shape. This is great for building fine motor skills and building strength in the hands, developing cutting ability.
