Attaching patches to clothing and blankets is a timeless way to combine practicality and creativity. Whether used to repair a tear, personalize an item, or showcase a unique design, patches offer an easy and versatile solution. They come in a variety of materials and backing types, making them suitable for both beginner and experienced crafters. All you need to know about attaching your patches is shown below in these handy videos.

Sewing Method 1

For the hardcore sewer!

This sewing method requires you to stitch all the way through the badge from back to front, catching your blanket, jacket or other item as you go. Some say this is the hardest method but when using our recommended needles, you'll be attaching badges in no time at all! Make sure to stitch slightly in from the edge and match the thread colour to the edge of your badge.

Note: we've recently started to make the edges of our badges easier to sew with a laser cut, fabric edge. This method is recommended for these badges as the edge fabric is super thin and easy to sew through.

Sewing Method 2

Picking up stitches!

This is the easier of our two sewing methods and is ideal for smaller adventurers looking to sew their own badges. This method relies on catching stitches around the edge of the badge, rather than trying to sew all the way through. Not sure what we mean? Be sure to use our recommended needles to make sewing as easy as possible.

Iron On Adhesive

We tested all the top adhesives and when none of them lived up to our super-high expectations we went back to the drawing board. After thorough testing we’re proud to bring you a iron on adhesive that’s flexible enough to still sew through (if you want to) and strong enough to stand washing.

Note: sewing will always be the most secure method of attaching your badges. No adhesive lasts forever and extreme temperatures can affect adhesive effectiveness. Please also note that Pawprint Family do not accept any responsibility for items damaged whilst using our iron on adhesive. Please always check garment care labels and individual iron settings carefully before using this adhesive.
