The benefits of adding resin to enamel products

Resin is a hard, clear coating that can be added to enamel products to improve the durability — particularly those with spray painted metal, or printed areas.

We tend to recommend a resin coating for enamel products with spray painted metal because it will protect the design from chips and scratches, for example our own range of Classic Care Bears pins.

Similarly, we can use a digital printing method for more complex designs so as not to sacrifice the details, and we would recommend coating this in resin to protect the print surface.

For soft enamel pins, where the enamel is slightly recessed in the design, adding resin will even the top surface to give a flat finish with a high shine.

Hard enamel is quite hard wearing, and the enamel already sits flush with the metal, so we wouldn't usually add a resin coating on top.

As with all enamel products, adding resin is quoted on a project basis.
